I am thinking 500 bucks because:
1) Nitendo will not lose money on a console, so its going to be cost plus profit.
2) By all accounts its basically an xbox with afancy controller.  Seeing as how a new xbox is around 200 bucks, you figure that the new wii has to be more than that, considering the cost to make it has to be higher because of the lower production run and the fact that its at the beginning of its lifecylce. So lets say 250 ish as a base, another 100 bucks for the fancy touchscreen controller.  I don't see anything that tells me this thing is going for less than 350, and I would be surprised by that, I am thinking 500 bucks

After the 3DS boondoggle, I'd just sit around and watch for the price drop.

Agreed... and beyond that, a little delayed gratification = a ton of gaming on the cheap. I have a ton of XBox 360 backlog to work through anyway (came into this generation late- my wife is just now enjoying Fable II), so when I am ready for a new console, and if the WiiU is worth it, I will grab it for under $200, which for my family's budget is the sweet spot for console prices.
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

I was a fan of Fable when it came out on Xbox, and even got the Lost Chapters on PC. I liked Fable II alot when it came out. Fable III sucked ass, don't waste your time with that one.

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking III reviewed poorly. Next up in the great backlog is a bunch of co-op- Left for Dead I and II and Rayman: Origins, which while new, dropped in price FAST (was like $20 with free shipping last week at Toys R US). NSMB Wii was one of the highlights for us on that system, I hope R:O has a similar vibe.

I'd have to see a comprehensive list of things it does (or is capable of doing) and what it comes with (or doesn't) before I'd even say what I'd pay.

looks like i'm waiting.

free online play could swing me to pay more.

including 2 controllers and a couple of games could swing me to pay more.

an easily upgradable internal storage (hard drive with STANDARD connections not stupid ass proprietary connectors) could swing me to pay more. I'm not liking this internal memory/external sd card separation that goes on with the wii. they cheaped out with 512mb of flash memory then only later allowed save and game info to be saved to SD card. (slow as hell I might add)

Nintendo's online play has always been free. It just really, really sucks.  ;)

Ah, don't count on that.  Those are the first to go to keep the price down.  The Wii was the first system in a good long time to actually come with a game (since the SNES.)  And no more two-controllers-per-package like the old days either.   :(

Well the cat is pretty much out of the bag on your questions:

Think Xbox 360, now take away xbox live, and the ability to play DVDs now add a resistive touch screen controller roughly the size of a tablet that does not support multi- touch which allows for revolutionary game play and the ability to, on some games, turn off the tv and continue playing from your couch.  Not its not a tablet, and its not a portable system, its just a touchscreen tethered to your wiiu

Probably free to play, all new online network that is going to piggyback off the one EA has, rumor has it.

Not much info on this, but since the wiiu can only support ONE touchscreen controller, i am guessing it just ships with one touch screen controller.  The thing also uses old wii controllers.  I am guessing no game, or maybe some cheapo hardware demo type game like wii sports.  There will probably be multiple options with multiple price points, with different memory options and peripherals I imagine.

Keep dreaming.  Having properietary stuff makes your stuff harder to pirate and hack, and also saves nintendo from paying royalty fees.

 :dunno oh well... PASS.

---smurfy--- online is what really put me in the dumps with wii to begin with. if they are keeping their current online model
PASS.

what iv'e basically gathered is the WiiU is just a supercharged Wii... which was a supercharged gamecube. we aren't really gaining anything. PASS
