My J-Pac Missing USB port
« on: December 16, 2011, 04:50:34 pm »
I ordered a J-Pac 2 and it is missing a USB port, it only has 2 PS2 ports, looking on the Ultimarc web page shows a USB port next to the two PS2 ports. Can anyone advise if I received an old model or what's going on?

I also paid for a USB cable, but the seller didn't give me that either, they are supposed to refund me for this, but they haven't done that either.

$10 first first class shipping for the product to come wrapped in paper inside a Fancy Feast Cat Food Box didn't impress me either, but that's neither here nor there.

Could someone just please confirm the USB issue and if I should seek a refund or if it's not a big deal.

Thanks!

I've never had a JPac with an actual USB port, so I'll bet you are OK.

Here is the pic of the new jpac.   Looks like USB has been added.   Sounds like you got the older card.  The ps2 port can be used as USB with an adapter.  I see it still says USB next to the ps2 port.

Did you order from Ultimarc? Or did you order from someone else?

Probably not Andy.   I have never known him to use a cat food box for shipping.  :D

I'm regretting I didn't spend the little more and order from Ultimarc, I know the USB isn't top priority, but I expected it, and the $10 for the shipping was laughable.

Still haven't received my $4 back I spent for the USB to PS2 cable that didn't come with it.

It's not any of these things individually that annoys me, but the combination of all of the above does frustrate me. Live and learn I guess. Next purchase(s) will be straight from Andy.

I've ordered twice from divemaster and he gave the pooch a slight screwing on both.   :P

Good summary of how I feel, I didn't get ripped, but I certainly didn't receive some sort of fine service. He told me if I wasn't happy I could ship it back, but given I don't feel it's worth it (1) and (2), I doubt I would receive my shipping $$$ back I'm better off leaving it alone.

New discovery, preparing J-Pac for install there there's reminants of a sticker on the back of the connector, matches the nics and scratches nicely.

Just checked the website, now I'm pissed. Shows the USB model, same as what Ultimarc has, even says new version. We'll see how this pans out in his thread.

It says PC keyboard/USB because it is showing you that is the output to the PC. If you need USB into your pc, just use a ps2 to usb adapter. I'm not sure, but I also think you can go straight to usb with that header just above the text, but I'm not sure and you would need a custom USB-A male to motherboard header adapters.

That is the current board you have.

We only fitted the USB connectors on the very first batch of these boards a couple of years ago, in case anyone needed to upgrade the firmware, which can only be done vis USB,m and they ordered PS/2.

The boards have only the DIN connector. USB and PS/2 run through the same connector. The board auto-detects the type of interface it is connected to.

Hello, again I sent you a pm this morning offering you a full refund plus your shipping, the plug is just for firmware updates, the jpac is still cable driven, with ps2/ps2 or usb/ps2.  As Andy stated above you received the most current board.  Feel free to return for a complete refund including shipping if you wish.
thanks

I just went back thru my jpac stock I have some of the newer styles with the addition of plug for firmware updates.  But both are the current model, the plug still determines the version either the usb/ps2 version or the ps2/ps2 version.  Feel free to return for a full refund plus shipping or i can exchange for the version with the update plug.
