Games That Are Computer Hogs!
« on: September 18, 2003, 06:40:37 pm »
Hello,

Alot of games i have perfect on my home computer (1.2 Athlon, 256 DDR Ram and G4 128MB Video Card).

I was wondering if there were any games in mame that seriously need a powerful computer? What kind of computer do you need to run Crusin' USA?

I play Crusin at full speed...

no sound, cheats on, then ~ and underclock cpu0 to about 20 - 30 percent...

its still slow selecting the car...

but after that its MUCH better!  I get 100%  (about 80% with sound) on a 2.4 ghz machine

Just to let you know...

btw, the controls SUCK... you can do it a little with a mouse.. but forget the keyboard completely

Hey all,

I'm able to run KI and KI2 at full speed with no problem (Running an Athlon XP 2400+ and Geforce3 card), but Wargods is extremely choppy (and unplayable).  Haven't tried Cruisin' USA though

I have a 1700XP OC'ed to 2400Mhz (faster then the fastest AMD you can currently buy). I noticed Lilwolf has a 2.4, is it an AMD? I still have 2 of the DLT stepping 1700XP chips and had thought of running one in my arcade machine, but I was under the impression that Cruzin and Wargods, etc where way out on processer speeds... Hmmm I may have to run mame on my main machine and check it out.

2.1xp and a 2.4intel actually.   But I have mame + full roms on both...  sometimes you just want to play a quick game while working... without standing up and going over to the arcade cabinet... (actually for testing FE development).

But yeah... underclocking makes SUCH a difference... I'm not even sure what the cpu0 is for... but everything seems to run like normal... So bugs.. I haven't noticed that the AI is bad or anything... But without a 270 degree joystick... I don't think I would play long enought to really find out.
