Need help to wire power button
«

I'm about to replace the PC in my cab. With the current PC I had no problem to cut the two power button wires and connect them to a regular microswitch. However, with this new PC there are FOUR wires (+ LED wires) coming from the motherboard. Does anyone know how I should cut and wire these to a microswitch? I've searched the forums and found similair questions, but no answer.
The PC is a Lenovo Thinkcentre 9646.
Anyone?

My guess would be one set is Power, and the other set is Reset. Cut them both, touch the ends of the wires together (each set, trying one set first, then the other), and see what set powers the computer on.

All IBM/Lenovo power buttons have double power button leads. THey are redundant. Just cut both of them and wire up one set to a microswitch and you will be fine

I ran into this same non-issue recently. I bought an $80 used IBM off the internet for my cabinet, and found that it had two sets of leads connected to the power switch. I just hooked up one set to my cabinet power button, and since it worked, I didn't ask any further questions.
