ROWE AMI CD100 250 WATT AMP PROBLEMS
« on: December 10, 2011, 10:46:56 pm »
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.  I have the common AMI CD100 amp. The amp sound became extremely low and totally staticy (even at full volume). I swapped with a friends amp and everything worked fine, so I know it is the amp.

I changed the 4 transistors (2N6284 and 2N6287)that are mounted on the big heat sink with new ones. They are the correct transistors, installed in the correct order, and used heatsink grease. Also changed the fuses, but it is giving me the same problem. Do you know of any other common problem it could be? Maybe a certain capacitor needs to be changed on the board or something?  If so, where would the location of this capacitor, transistor, etc.

Just don't know where to go from here. Thanks for any info that can be provided.

Hi jdemarti,

If you are in the USA I would contact Bruce Wentworth at www.abjukeboxrepair.com/
Or in Europe contact myself to repair this amp.

Got it working. Found out that I received a bunch of bad Darlington amp transistors. I was assuming the transistors were good.
