MALA Setup?
« on: December 06, 2011, 08:58:06 am »
I have a quick set up question on Mala.

I can't seem to get all the games I have roms for show up in my Mala game list. quick example I have the Rampage world tour rom. If I load it straight through Mame it works just fine and I can play. When I start Mala and do the refresh game list. Rampage doesn't show up on the Mala game list.
Rampage is just one I know for sure isn't listed in Mala..there are others as well.

Not sure what all you need from to know on my setup so I will put what I think you need:

for Mame I'm running: the latest release from mamedev.com
same for Mala the latest release

As far as roms go..due to site regs I can't list where I got them from.

I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. And probably not the best first post on here.

Are you using the mala gamelist creator app or just an all games list in Mala FE itself?  If you use the Mala gamelist app there's a filter for working games only that will cut out too many "working" rom's I've found. I've had to go to the full, unfiltered list and move them onto another list manually.

I'm using the all game list in Mala itself. I've played with the settings..IE working roms only, nothing seems to work. I found some more info on here. And when I get home. I will double check to make sure the rom is labeled the same as what Mala has it.

how many games are showing in your "all games" list?  should be like 9400-9600 or something.

I have found a couple of missing roms in that list for whatever reason (usually in the X's W's and V's), but I know for a fact Rampage WT  isn't one of them (I have it on my list).

This is what I did to account for the missing roms, I don't know if it will for for your setup.  I made my own gameslist comprised of just the Roms that I have in my Roms folder called "My Games," by using the Gameslist feature.  You can also get there from the configurations menu selecting the gameslist tab and launching the games list editor from that tab.

Anyways what I would do if a game that was in my rom folder wasn't in the "All Games" list I would transfer over any rom from "All Games" to "My Games" that I knew I didn't have, something retarded or easily idenifyable like Mahjong.

Then once it was in "My Games" I would right click on the rom and select edit.  I would change the name field to the name of the game that I REALLY wanted in my list and then changed the Rompath to the name of the ROM in my ROM folder.

This has worked for me so far.
