Frankenpanel Controller Mapping's - How is YOURS done??
« on: November 27, 2011, 10:57:54 pm »
So I'm nearing the stage of wiring up my control panel, and as it is a DIY version of North Coast Customs quad cp design I thought I'd do a little prep work before I get started.

I'm trying to work out the most suitable way to configure the IPAC 4.

Can everyone out there who have a control panel with an IPAC 4 inside please put up their configuration settings??

Let's start the insanity!  :banghead:

As someone who is also probably going to go the NorthCoast DIY quad route, what controls did you decide to go with and roughly what did they cost?

Sorry I don't have any useful information to give you on your mapping, I am newbie and looking at what others are doing.

Thanks and good luck planbee!!

Well the majority of the parts came from Groovy Game Gear.... electric ice 2 buttons, electric ice trackball, turbo twist high/low spinner with translucent white base plate for illumination. The joysticks I got from retroarcadeslive.com, though their RGB (multi) colour sticks have changed now, you can no longer control the colours as they have started using auto colour scrolling led's inside. A little mod work and I changed them to what I was after.

As for the prices, it depends on your actual setup. It definitely is not necessary at all to go the added cost of illuminating everything though I spent around $1000 AUD on the control panel parts. I have a total of 53 push buttons on my control panel and I want to light them all up  ???

Hope this helps...

Thanks Jason for the info.  I probably won't want the extra cost of all the lights on my buttons so I will just do normal boring buttons.  I am thinking about doing 4 u360s for each player and then the 7 buttons for 1 and 2 player and then the 4 buttons for 3 and 4 player unless there is a need to go more buttons for the latter.

I will also have a track ball and possibly a spinner.  Did you get their basic pre made kit or did you design it yourself and have them cut it to your specs?

Thanks again for the info!!

You mean, you have four sticks with six buttons each, and there are only 26 letters in the alphabet?
