Pictures of my arcade machine paint removal (Update)
« on: November 14, 2011, 08:49:06 pm »
Malenko gave me the idea to do this. So I followed the thread that he made about this. I had been under the impression that my cabinet was from a Mortal Kombat III machine... until I uncovered the original art.

I finally got to do some more work on this after finding a home for the dog I was fostering. There are a few spots where the paint has been stubborn, but it is really coming along well! Unfortunately on the other side when I was taking the Tekken stickers off, some of the art work came with it. I am still going to remove the rest of the paint over there and see if there is a way to try to patch up the holes. There is one big one (about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide) and one small one that is about 1 inch by 1.5 inches.

Thanks again for the tip! I hadn't told my fiancee' that I would be doing this, so when she came in the apartment she said "Ugh, it reeks in here... Holy crap that is awesome!" I can't wait to have it completed... It will probably be this weekend when I have some serious time to put into it. This was done in about an hour today.

I am going to be doing more work this weekend. I am brewing a batch of beer on Saturday and while it is boiling, I plan on doing some more work. I will make sure I get to that part of it so I can post pictures that night.

Check my update, I made sure to uncover that logo last night. Sorry about the wait!

Your MKII side art looks better than mine! I guess black paint really prevents the red paint from fading. I'm so glad I suggested removing the paint.
