I need a new gamming desktop!
« on: November 13, 2011, 08:09:02 pm »
The last one I built came out of PC building Bible 2007. Only thing I know I want is Intel's Core i7 possibly i5 is the price is a big enough difference.

Hit me up with some links on good deal on parts or kits if you know of any. I want to keep it below $1500.

Thanks,

upprc04

With a $1500 budget, it shouldn't be too hard.

- Z68 based motherboard
- i5 2500k (which will leave you nice headroom to overclock if you choose)
- 8gb of nice ram (that'll run you $50 these days.... crazy cheap)
- SSD boot drive (I'd go for a 120gb personally)
- storage drive of your choice
- DVD or BluRay drive
- Video card based on what you actually want to spend on one.  I never buy high end so I'd recommend a GTX 560 personally.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

With prices as low as they are today why would you want a kit or parts? I buy computers mostly from Tiger Direct.

For $630 you can get a good i5 PC such as this one.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1147246&CatId=4928

For $1500 you can get a smokin fast i7 such as this one that will handle all your gaming needs. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1277091&CatId=6

There may be one or 2 things you may want to add but for the most part the PCs will meet your needs for much less hassle than kits, bundles, or buying items seprately.
Careful what you wish for you may get it!!
There are 10 kind of people in the world those that understand binary and those that do not!!

That’s not a bad find. I think the only thing I want changed would be a Nvida Graphics card. What is the bang for your buck Nvida graphic card these days?  Never mind I will look it up.

wow tigerdirect is selling GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB for $200 !!

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7168004&CatId=3669

might just have to go real cheap and upgrade my current GeForce 8800 GTs with that.

Edit: False alarm. There is a $35 mail in rebate plus $5 shipping bringing the total to $240.
Honestly mail in rebates piss me off. As soon as a see mail in rebate I instantly get turned off to the product no matter what it is. If mail in rebates is suppose to give some kind of instate to buy they sure have to opposite effect on me.

I follow these guys pretty closely.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buyers-guide

They haven't done a listing since September, but its still very relevant. I've built two boxes using their recommendations and both boxes were well over what I thought I could get at the given price range.
