You shouldn't need that piano hinge with the 90' bend in it.
Just mount the hinge differently. You might have to route out a little recess on the top edge of the CP box back, and the underside of the CP at the back, but that should be it.
Alternately, you could use set of standard kitchen cabinet hinges.
You might also consider picking up a gas strut to keep the lid open, but you could also use a casement window adjuster or just a stick.

Dirk...thanks a bunch, however i had already tried euro hinges, i was able to get some from harbor freight on sale.
DrAdventure, In regard to not needing the 90 bend, i do, i have built a repro cab, pacman style and want to hinge the control panel out. Its not just the top, but the front and top together that I want to lay out, but need the 90 to attach to the back sides of the front of the cab and cp. I will attempt to do some ascii art...
