black control panel bolts
« on: November 08, 2011, 12:36:30 pm »
Any suggestions on what to use to hold down the plexiglass on the control panel?  I seem to remember small black carraige type bolts in the arcades on control panels.  But i haven't been in an arcade in 20 years....

Thanks!

That's what I used for my Arkanoid CP. The buttons also help hold down the plexi.

are those anything specific, or just a standard hardware store item?

Bob knows his stuff; there's no easier to order from. Tell him what you need in an email and he tells you how much - plus if you ask for the wrong thing he'll tell you, and if you order a bunch of stuff he gives you free stuff! Doesn't get any easier. The only thing with Bob is that he doesn't take Paypal.

Bob is easy to order from, and he sends candy and sometimes beads.... I don't even have to lift my shirt

I believe Lizardlick sells them too, I'm not sure if they are the black kind though.

I bought some from GGG. I've also spray painted silver ones from a hardware store black and they look fine. If all you need is bolts just go to the store and paint them. If your placing an order already then just add them on thats my suggestion.

Just remember that wherever you buy them, they may have the raised lettering on them. You can easily sand that off and polish them up, then paint them black.

I just took some rusty ones off a CP last night. The ones on that particular CP were button head security hex bolts like these, but of a different size. The joysticks were secured by carriage bolts with nuts on the bottom as you would expect, but you had to remove the security bolts to take the top of the control panel off first to get at them.

Ok, so in the thread where I asked about this I said I went with ArcadeShop...but I think I actually didn't.  I distinctly remember using a site with a cart and direct online order capabilities because it was easy and the prices were the same or better...I can't find my damn invoice though.

It was a big seller of parts also...not Lizard Lick.

Also, they don't have any raised lettering on them and came in a variety of sizes.

I'll keep checking - this is driving me nuts.
