Chromalite buttons - does anyone know resistor size needed?
« on: November 05, 2011, 11:54:18 pm »
I ordered a set and didnt realize they didnt come with wiring or resistors included. I dont know the resistor size needed, or current draw.

I havent seen them yet to try 5/7/12 volts to see which brightness level is sufficient, but without knowing current draw i cant do the math myself. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! im building a 4 player panel one "player" at a time.

Comes with a 12V LED which means it has a resistor in series sized for 12V input.

From GGG:

Power Requirement: Any regulated DC voltage between 5 and 12v.  5vDC may be sufficient for normal installations, with 12vDC being recommended where brighter lighting is desired.

ah so to connect the lez wiz id connect a 12 volt line to the x5v connector on the led wiz, and then run that as a sharedline to all the chromalite buttons? if i ran it as 5 volts and it has a resistor for 12 it would probably be way too dim. I could always try 7 too.  Thanks for the help!

Try it at 5V too.  The review said it was good for normal lighting.  Extra bright with 12V.
