KeyWiz PC boot issue
« on: October 25, 2011, 10:43:46 pm »
Hopefully someone has ran in to this before and can help me out.  I've done some searches on the forum and internet which have led me to disable as much as I can in the BIOS with no success.

When I start my computer from powered off, if the keywiz is plugged in the computer hangs and never POSTs.  If I start without it plugged in, there are no problems with booting, but the keywiz will not be recognized.  I then restart my computer with the keywiz plugged in and all works fine.  I can restart as many times as I want after the initial cold start with no keywiz and reboot with keywiz.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but my keywiz is being powered by an external power supply.  Thoughts?

Why does your keywiz have an external power supply? It should be powered by the PS/2 cable that it is connected with.

Completely PS/2 Port Powered.  No external power source necessary.

Well I'm an idiot.  Good thing it didn't destroy my computer or the keywiz.  I assumed it needed power, I didn't realize the terminals were for reference!  Thanks for the suggestion, I'll report back if it worked or not

Well it pays to read up on electronics before connecting wires I guess...

I fixed the issue and the PC boots with no hassles.  Thanks for the clarification!
