Teach me how to add LED buttons with my J-pac
« on: October 23, 2011, 09:15:22 pm »
I want to change the look of the MK1 mame and add LED buttons to light up at night. I currently have a J-pac, any help with what I need to buy and how to wire up the buttons is appreciated. I am trying to avoid any soldering and adding diodes, Looking for a true plug and play addition. Also looking to add them to the dedicated Killer Instinct cabinet, but it is 100% dedicated no J-pac in there.

The jpac or jamma harness have no effect on doing lit buttons.
You will need to change your buttons to ones that will show light through and get leds and appropiate resistors to stick in them.
check out some of the suppliers: Groovy Game Gear, Ultimarc and Paradise Arcades.

If you want RGB LEDs and need to control them to change colors, or want to be able to adjust the brightness on single color LEDs between games or animate them, get the PACLED64. If you use the PACLED64, you don't need resistors for the LEDs which is nice. If you don't need an LED controller, there are LEDs out there that have built-in resistors, like Paradise's IL-Lumination LEDs.
