DPDT lower profile button - ON-ON
« on: October 16, 2011, 08:54:39 pm »
I have a need for a DPDT (on-on) button.   Mostly all I can find for this are the rocker type switches.   I wanted to use an actual button.  But also a lower profile button something like the picture I've attached.    I'm not having any luck finding anything like this.   Does anyone have any idea where and if I could find something like this?

Thanks!

Couldn't you modify an existing button to do the same? Open it up, then add a piece of metal that makes contact to another pin when the button raises to the off position instead?

I might end up having to investigate something like that I guess.  Since I can't seem to find any other options.  Or else I'll just have to cave in and just use a rocker switch, even though I don't want to.  But thanks for the idea anyway.

What's your application for this?

See this other thread of mine from before:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=114697.msg1216869#msg1216869

Basically I figured out that if I cut one of the wires, the alarm no longer goes off.  So I need a dpdt on-on button to use to connect the motor to my alternate power source and at the same time disconnect that alarm wire.   Then when I let go of the button, it will switch back to the normal motor power source, and at the same time re-connect the alarm wire.    When I was playing last night I was able to get it working with a rocker style switch.   I just wanted to use a button instead.  Seemed to make more sense.

(also, these are the six wires that I was hoping to quickly disconnect)

awesome!  Thanks so much for finding those.  I literally googled for like an hour, and the only one I found was the silver stomp one on eBay. But I think that one might be too big.  The others might work though.  So thank you!
