AMI/Rowe R82 cancel button(s) no longer works

My 1977 AMI/Rowe R82 Jukebox has been working fairly reliably for the past several years.  There’s been a few things on the “to do” list, but nothing preventing me from enjoying it until recently.  One night not too long ago a record that had been playing fine for some time began skipping about 2/3rds the way in.  I went to cancel the selection using the button on the inside of the machine.  This did nothing.  I then went to the back of the machine to hit the other cancel button.  Still nothing.

I turned the power off.  Replaced the record with another known “good” record.  This also started skipping 2/3rds the way in.  I checked the arm to see if it was somehow being restricted, it wasn’t (that I could determine).  The sound has also started to go bad.  Could this be as simple as a new needle?  Although, the fact that the “cancel” buttons no longer does anything leads me to believe it could be something more.  This is my 1st jukebox so I’m not familiar with the basic trouble-shooting steps.   

I’m a bit of a D.I.Y. guy, so any suggestions would be appreciated.  I’m also willing to hire a pro if it is beyond me, so any references to someone in the Oakland CA, SF/ Bay Area could also come in handy.

Under recent inspection, it looks like I have a faulty Mechanism Control Unit (401-06905) as it's making a serious buzzing noise.  Any referrals for repair are appreciated!

FYI, I sent an email to Bruce at A&B, but from what I can tell from his site leads me to believe he doesn't service anything older than R84's.  Here's hoping I'm wrong.

I am sure that Bruce no longer does repairs on the R-80S through to R-83 boards but I think that he does have a contact that does repair these boards.
If you can not get them repaired in the USA then contact me in the UK I still repair the boards and have most of the parts for the mechanism/carousel in stock.
