Is there any way to test this? I assumed the controls simply wouldn't work if the gnd wasn't connected right, but apparently they would . . Now I'm nervousing. I modded a Hanaho Hotrod with an IPAC value edition. There were 2 gnd wires on the Hotrod (after I cut past a connection that made them into 1) and I just plugged each into the spots for ground on the IPAC. Does that sound about right?

Connect the control pin to each micro switch NO side.  Daisy-chain the GND on each switch together and connect that to the GND pin on the IPAC.  The Hanaho may have used 1 GND per player...can't say since I never looked at one.  The IPAC just needs the controls all connected to the single pin and you'll be set!

The IPAC has 2 spots for ground, thats why I just went ahead and plugged 2 in.

ADDED: I should add that the controls with the IPAC actually work perfectly, I just don't want to get zapped.

Thats only for people who didn't daisy chain the groundsNd so be more space for them

Or for people who run a complete chain so they can connect both ends.  ;)

Either ground will work or both if you want to connect your daisy chain in a loop.

So if there were something wrong, say the ground wasn't connected right, what would happen? I assume the button would be stuck on or something?

Your arcade machine would implode! :o

Not really. Whatever buttons that didn't have a ground would not function.

Thanks, that's basically what I wanted to know. If all the inputs are working, there's a ground, and I don't have to worry about bursting into flames.

If no ground is connected to your switches nothing should happen when they are pressed.

The ground on the iPac does not have to be grounded electrically if that is your concern.  If you did do that, remove the ground to earth immediately!

Others have told you what to do.  Just daisy chain each switch in parallel.

I'm lost. All I did was put the ground wires from the controls to the designated ground spots on the IPAC, are you saying this is incorrect?

You did it right. He's talking about earth grounding. Which is something you should do with the metal parts of your cabinet (coin door, monitor frame, control panel if it's metal). To earth ground, run a wire from a metal component to the bottom round prong of an electrical cord. Earth grounding helps protect electronic components from static discharge as well as helping to protect you from an electrical shock from a short circuit (keeps you from being the most convenient path to ground).
