ELO Touchscreen 15" 1545L - Fuzzy Blurry Issues
« on: October 10, 2011, 10:32:13 pm »
Hi Guys,

I just got an Elo 15" Touchscreen 1545L and i'm having some fuzzy/static blurry issues with it.  I've tried it with 3 laptops and 1 desktop and i'm getting horizontal lines across the screen in multiple areas.  I've tried another power cord and also a second vga cord and same result.  I've changed the resolution from 800x600 and 1024 x 768 with the same results..the refresh rate at 60hz and 75hz same result...i've messed around with the contrast and brightness and its all the same thing.  I've turned off the ClearType setting in Effects..i've really tried everything hah.  Anyone have any clue what could be wrong with it or what i'm not doing correctly?  Let me know your thoughts, i'm trying to use it for a jukebox project and now have ran into this issue.

Thanks for your help

Jason

This may not have anything to do with it..but I noticed sometimes when I plug stuff into my wall outlets it causes some of my stuff to hum.  For example, I have a projector in my bedroom and no matter what I do, it causes some lines to show up when its on.  (on the screen I mean)  I haven't had an issue with any other computer monitor so i'm not too sure that can be it..but to rule things out ...any other ideas?

What are you using as a power source?   Is it AC or a power brick?   Another problem I have run across is the flat ribbon cables that take to signal to the LCD from the decoder board are not seated correctly.  They have some very small connectors that have to latch securely and the cable has to be fully inserted.

its just a regular cable like this... http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/public/qxe7LFtzlyRYXNBJYMXW3154cGqNL1_1uhO8cBou7aYHfMi3Vd1n_LD144XUOtlQTW3LClZVKBjCTt-Be6m-T4CED5rGNvowNtLcoaZDaIWhLr2v9mJGcAWuaYTv8Q12yl1eWMnp3lF1

I thought maybe it could be that but it says it has an internal power supply.  I noticed when I wiggle the vga cables it changes the static a little..could that have something to do with it possibly? Do I need a SVGA and not a VGA cable (even though I think they are the same haha).

ok so I just lugged it to my friends place and tried it there.  Same issue, its not a power thing.  I notice though that the static moves when i flick around the vga cable connected to it...I don't need a noise filter for the power cable right?  I tried plugging it into a laptop with power from the wall, and without...nothing.  The only thing I can think is the vga connector is messed up?

No i meant the internal cables that tie the logic board to the LCD display.  They are usually under the cover of the metal chassis.

Maybe I should catch the net...I just ordered another one off of ebay from a guy with 13,000 sales and 99.5% feedback and it shows up here with a glass screen shattered and cracked in half...think UPS dropped it or something but i'm just not catching a break with these damn things!

By any chance was the person on ebay called " electronicscafe " ? I bought 2 broken screens off them (long story) but got a 80% refund for no negative feedback. I have a guy looking at them now who reckons the problem is either power supply capacitors blown or inverter problem.  They had exact same blurry horizontal line issues.

No the ebay one I just got was CDHLC...I'm hoping he just ships another one out to me.  The one I have that has the horizontal lines was from on here.  It works and everything just has the lines issue...let me know what your friend says if you don't mind..maybe I can get the one that semi works to start working better.  I'm just realy hopng this guy gives me another one..i mean he has 13,001 sales and 99.5% score so

I bought one from CDHLC earlier this year.  The touch didn't work at all.  He exchanged mine no problem for a working one.  It did cost me shipping back to him but he paid shipping to me for the new one.  Overall I was happy with it.

Oh ok well good to know..mine arrived in pieces and I filed a claim with ups.  The shipper gets the refund so hopefully he will follow through and send me another one
