MAWS broken?
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:13:41 pm »
This is probably a stupid question, but I've not used MAWS for a while and now I come back to use it, neither browsing for roms nor searching is turning up any results. Is the site down or am I doing something drastically wrong?

The site is up, which it wasn't a week or two ago.  But you are right that the search function isn't returning any results.

So, yep, its broke.

It's not something I use often as I tend to do weeding and filtering manually for accuracy, but right now time's of the essence so is there something similar close to MAWS online?

If I remember right, you can do certain filtering things with MameUI.

Would have been my second avenue, but unfortunately not detailed enough for the filtering I need to do.

Thanks for the link, but it's not that helpful in this case. A good backup if all else fails though.

romlister is as good or better as any maws search+filtering query.  it takes just a bit more work to set up, but it'll never go offline!

It's not as good as MAWS, but mamedb.com is passable when MAWS is down. And KLOV is often more accurate than MAWS for things like control type and orientation.
