hey trying to build a cab
« on: October 04, 2011, 09:11:13 pm »
Hey guys posting this here because i don't know where else to post. But any way im new here and i want to build a mame machine but with all my past experiences with mame i cannot get time crisis to run so my other option buy a real time crisis cab so i was thinking about taking that time crisis machine and putting it in another cab in combo with a mame pc to play some other faves like house of the dead etc so is this possible and what would be the best way of doing this? or is it possible to play time crisis in mame?

Not possible to get time crisis to play in mame and no way to interface the time crisis guns with your mame pc

You just started it yesterday - it wasn't close to dead yet.

The Time Crisis series was released for the Playstations (1, 2 and 3).  All come with GunCon peripherals and the 4th was actually re released to use the Playstation Move. All seem a lot easier and less expensive than buying a Time Crisis machine or trying to get the arcade hardware to interact with a PC.

Not in mame it doesn't work perfectly since it has imperfect and preliminary drivers, so the emulation is broken.

That's probably the closest you'll get for now save for buying an actual Time Crisis machine. The problem is that even if MAME got it perfect, you're still using guns that aren't anywhere near the quality of the arcade ones (with kickback and the cover pedal).

I have Time Crisis running grat in my MAME cab.  I am using the guns from Arcadeguns.com and they are accurate.  Forr the foot pedal, there is a buttin on the handle of the gun that I conifgured as the foot switch in the game so when I want to take cover/reload i just ease up the grip on my gun handle.....It is not the exact same as the foot switch but it works damn good!!

Runs great on my cab in MAME too.... I don't understand why people say it doesn't work. It may not be 100% perfect, but I don't notice any differences between MAME and the arcade other than having to hit a certain spot on the helicopters to shoot them down.

Just because it doesn't work on your computer/version of MAME doesn't mean that it doesn't work.

well there are several glitches that make it not work for some people like the helicopter glitch don't know if that's been fixed or not some lighting issues where one of the rooms that were supposed to be dark were light up the game runs slow etc that's why i started this thread but if there's some magical way to make it run please enlighten me.

Time Crisis II got an enhanced port for the PS2, and Time Crisis 3 got a near arcade perfect port.

I think if I were building a light gun cab I'd definitely be building it with a CRT television and incorporating a bunch of different consoles.

Try Time Crisis 1 for PSX and Time Crisis 2 and 3 for PS2.
I don't know how accurate they are to the arcade versions, but if you want a nice cheap option (PS2s are really cheap these days) then I'd say get a PS2 with those 3 and Mame.

nods head although to get a good time crisis 3 emulator one would only have to modify pcsx2's source code a few time and wallah but i'll do what you suggested

May I suggest PS2 in cab with  large TV.  Add kicking guns and you will be set.

Just my 2 pennies :burgerking:
