Need some direction on setup
« on: September 26, 2011, 09:06:05 pm »
Hello Everyone -

I was wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers on my arcade cabinet, I've searched around and this forum always pops up in the results so I figured I would give it a try.

What I'm looking for is to have a pretty simple set up, I am trying to get everything as plug and play as possible.  I'm using a quad core computer with 6GB of Ram and a flat panel 22 inch monitor mounted in a “xtension” arcade cabinet.  For controls I have a xarcade tankstick mounted in there.

Basically what I'm doing now is just booting up the PC, unfortunately it has windows vista I don't know if this would be a big issue though, and just running MAME via mouse/keyboard and then selecting a game.  What I want is something that boots right up and everything can be selected by the joysticks itself as this computer will be fully dedicated to this project and not used for anything else, is that possible?  I'm also trying to get everything to play in full screen if it can be done.

Does anyone think that a Xbox or PS3 would be better than the PC for what im going for?  Im also hoping to get the latest set of games once I figure this out.  Thanks in advance for any help.
