R-Type Arcade, HELP!!!
« on: September 25, 2011, 09:57:54 pm »
I have a R-Type arcade by Nintendo and was wondering what kind of board it uses or some games that are compatible with the arcade.
Sorry Guys I'm A Noob, but I love arcades and want to learn more about them. Thanks in advance!

Original R-Type boards are Jamma.

JAMMA boards are easily found on eBay.

From KLOV

Conversion type unique

Quote:

"Strange, that while the PCB for RType says JAMMA on it, it is not a game that can be simply swapped with another JAMMA board. This game has no 5V pinout on the edge connector, nor does it have the test and tilt pinouts of a true JAMMA connector. Also, nowhere in the manual is the word JAMMA mentioned."

Contrary to what KLOV says the board pinout looks to be jamma in the manual.  There maybe some confusion due to the FCC plugin boards and their pinouts so be sure to check before plugging in another jamma board.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm stuck with just the R-Type board. :(
If I put another JAMMA board can it break something in the system?
Again guys, I'm Sorry For All The Questions...

It should be OK but there are other boards tied into the rtype board for FCC filtering so you would have to know enough to be able to check the basic wiring to maker sure your jamma harness was standard.
