Rowe Ami Jewel RI-3
« on: September 25, 2011, 04:04:29 pm »
Recently got hold of one of these Jukes, already have a RI-5 Romantica.
I have exchanged all part to check to see if they all work, no problem there.

The amps are Rainbow Mk IV 1982

The Romantica amp works perfectly, but the Jewel amp crackles on start and when record plays sort of disappears then comes back with a crackle.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,

Being as the jukeboxes have the Rainbow (Music Hire Group) mk4 amp I guess you are in the UK.

I suggest that you look on the www.jukeboxparts.co.uk website for a Rowe Ami amplifier rather than waste time having the MK4 repaired (they were a poor substitute for the Rowe Ami amplifier)
You should look for the 50 watt original amplifier 6-09171-01 or use a 125 or 130 watt amplifier.
The speaker wiring and mute will have been modified to fit the Rainbow MK4 Molex connections.

Hi Alan

Thanks for the advise, i have been using them for other part, but wasn't sure if i could use 125/130W amp, now i know i am happy, so will in turn look out for a decent working amplifier.

How easy is it to convert 110v and 50 cycle to UK spec?

Looking to import from the US.

Regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

The only difference between the US and Euro model is that the US market used a 110 volt power supply the european used 220/240 and the turntable motor used a diffent sized pulley.

So locate the correct power supply there should be loads on Ebay and then get the correct pulley, if memory serves correct it should be the two step type (not the red single type 50htz) The part number for the 60hz turntable motor assembly is 3-07919-07 nd the pulley is 2-18178-01.

Regards
Alan
