Make your own super silent switches, with video
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:59:34 am »
I decided to make my own "versa micro switches" with existing "E-switches" i had (they are quite loud)  Use a 9/64 drill bit and drill through the side like the picture shows.  Grab some 5/64 hex socket screws (got mine from local hobby store) and screw down to desired "loudness"

EDIT:  Found some smaller hex set screws (3/16) and then used a 1/8 drill bit.  These are a bit less intrusive

Nice work.  :applaud: I'm impressed by the difference.  Does the mod affect the performance of the switches?

They respond much quicker.  I also have some of the micro leaf switches and the modded ones are almost comparable cept you cant put micro leaf in a joystick  :timebomb:

Yeah, sorry I just re-read this, your mod made me think you were comparing to Versa Micro switches not the leaf switches.  In fact I have both of those switch types too.

Have any of your versa or micro leaf switches broke or whatever in the last few years?  Had to made adjustments later on?

None have broken, although I haven't had them more than about a year.  I've found that the Versa Micro Switches should only be adjusted to the point where they are almost silent for the most reliable performance.
