Options for powering Electric Ice Trackball LED?
« on: September 09, 2011, 01:49:08 pm »
I have an Electric Ice Trackball and a 34 Ultralux Buttons.  I dont want to put the trackball LED (which I only want to be blue) through the LED Wiz because I am powering all the buttons that way.  (I know the buttons are equal to 680 and the USB output of the USB connection is 500.   :D)
The power supply on the computer is the newer type and does not have the old molex style adapters, so stealing power from the powersupply is not very simple.

My question is if there is another place I can plug my Trackball LED into get it lit?  Is there a way to plug it into its interface board that it comes with?

SATA to MOLEX adapter.

Thank you very much BadMouth.  I just picked one of these up.

To wire it to the power supply I can just pull the red wire out and twist and cap that together with the lead from the LED Wiz and the one from the Trackball LED?

I also ground the black wire off the molex to the LED Wiz ground?

Thanks

I have no idea how to wire it to a LED Wiz.

You only need the red and black from the connector to connect power to your electric ice trackball.  You do not need to connect to the led wiz as you wanted direct power and did not want to go thru the led wiz.  The ground and 5V on the connector are the same ground an 5V on your LED wiz since you are getting power from the same PC.
