Visual Pinball Competition #1: The Addams Family
« on: September 07, 2011, 04:10:28 am »
I figured this table would be a popular starter.

I use the latest pinmame and rom revisions. I don't see the difference between pinmame versions, and don't know the difference between roms for various tables, so I tentatively suggest any pinmame can be used, and the latest rom revisions be standard.

VP build and table: VP8, The Addams Family

- default settings

- One credit only!

- No continues!

- use any controls you wish

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (as far I know, you will have to take a photo/OS screenshot of the screen).

- videos (especially of virtual pinball tables in action) are encouraged

- If you're a pinball wizard on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

- Competition is two weeks in length - introductory period not withstanding - starting today, September 12th, 2011 and ending September 26th, 2011.

PLAY BALL!

*Anyone who wishes to start a Future Pinball competition, feel free.

I'm game. Is a custom controller considered a "cheat"? I have an x-arcade deal I bought as an empty enclosure from them and put my own stuff in. I added extra buttons for side nudge and an inertia switch for forward nudge.

Use whatever controls you wish.

I have been having a kind of hard time. The right outlane on this table is hungry. This score was after several games.

I'd definitely jump on board, but I don't use VP8.  VP9.12 and my pincab is all can stand to use now when it comes to digital recreations.

Create a VP9 thread. I'll play if my hardware can handle the table.

Despite lack of others posting, I'm going to post a new score.

I forgot to put in a time table. Added and time passed accounted for.

Was there not enough interest in this?  I'd be interested in playing more.  It would also be motivation to get started on my own virtual pinball cab that's been in the planning phase for too long :)

I never could get into TAF in VP. It plays funky. VP can be pretty hit/miss as far as playability goes. But.....it is simulation and not emulation.

The whole idea is a little wonky, because it's not like MAME where we allow any version - let alone, there are no versions of games. I'm still game, though. I invite others to set it up differently, if desired.

I would suggest that we open it up for anyone to post scores on the selected table.  Let’s not get caught up in versions.  Allow anyone to join in whether they’re playing on VP8, VP9, VP9 Full Screen (Cabinet) or even the actual table.

I know I played The Addams Family more often recently than I have in the past, due to this thread.  It’s a fun way to concentrate on one table.  This doesn’t have to be an ‘all things equal’ competition to make it enjoyable.

Fine with me. Anyone else?

Yeah, sounds good to me......I think I have the older vp and tables.   Not keen on trying to download all new ones again.   :)
