Fake Final Fantasy II for SNES?
« on: September 01, 2011, 06:00:06 am »
So, I've been looking to replace my marked up ff2 game, and in searching I noticed the ffII copies on ebay have the new style cartridge. The one I have, which I bought as a young boy!, only has a small slit for where the snes locks the game in when you power it on. Are these reproductions? or did Square Soft reproduce FFII at some point with the new style carts?

Yes, did Square just release some more games later on?

Found this video discussing the two different types. Didn't watch all of it though.

an 11 minute video of someone with OCD showing off their cart collection instead of just saying "they designed it this way to use less plastic"?  :dizzy:

Seems like the earlier design worked better since it locked the cart into place. Saving plastic saves a few cents though. So are the original carts considered any more valuable?

I've not heard of any more value for the original locking carts, but I've not checked thoroughly.  There could possibly be more value, but I don't think most people care, or whatever additional value there is, it is minimal.
