NOOB Problem: Extra Button (Kick Harness) and sound
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:14:55 am »
Hi Guys,

I started last week "Mameing" my Ulimate Mortal Kombat 3 cab.

After having a lots of problem with : Soft-15Hz, J-pac, Monitor Calibration. I'm finally on the final way to "complete" my Cab.

I don't understand how to connect extra buttons (4-5-6) to my j-pac. Do i have to cut my kick harness to connect to the J-pac?

I want to use the original speaker ( for more real experience) i bought a cheap stereo jack extender and strip the female connector. I've got 3 wires:

Black ( set in the GND)
White SND- on Jpac
Red SND+ on Jpac

it's actually working but it's not very high :(

Missing the AMP? I use the on-board connector on realtech HD...

So what is your advice guys??

Thx for your help! :)

Your stereo extender does not provide an amp for the sound.  The Red and White and GND connected to the jpac are incorrect as the jpac is connected to a mono speaker and you are using stereo wiring.  As a result you have the right and left connected to the mono speaker. You should connect the red or the white and ground to the jpac to get either the right or left sound.   A stereo amp is required to power stereo speakers directly.  You would have to install your own stereo speakers to replace the mono.  The easiest way is to use PC stereo speakers and amp to replace you mono speaker and bypass the jpac completely.

To wire the kick harness you either have to cut the harness and wire to terminal strips on the jpac or disconnect the harness at the buttons and wire the buttons directly to the jpac terminal strip.

It's the only way using the orginal speaker?? I want to have stereo? I'm limited to mono using j-pac?

What is the easiest way to connect the kick harness? There is no pre-made or adaptor?

Yes j pac is mono only  easiest way for stereo is to use PC speakers with amp built in.

There is no premade adapter for the jpac for a kick harness.   Easiest way is disconnect the kick harness from the buttons and wire direct to the jpac.   If your kick harness is long enough you can cut it and wire direct to the jpac but that will destroy the original kick harness.

I did this kick harness mod for a fellow member here. Not exactly something someone who is uncomfortable with electrical can tackle. But it should give you a basic idea of how to modify yours.

Their ground get daisy chained with the other buttons.
