Multiple input interfaces GP-Wiz40 & Xin-Mo
« on: August 23, 2011, 01:25:50 pm »

I have built a Control panel and stuck a GP-Wiz40 in to it, I have been using it awhile and like it pretty well.

I have been thinking about putting my PS3 in to the cabinet as well.

But I wanted to make sure it would work with multiple input interfaces.

I would have the GP-Wiz40 go to the PC and Xin-Mo to the PS3. Can I have them both wired in at the same time and not cause issues?

Also, if I can wire them in to the same do I come directly off the micro-switches or go to a distribution block then to the interfaces?

Any suggestions?

Both will show up as gamepad controllers but you will have to establish the priority of each controller so that they are recognized the same way by Mame.   If you never unplug you can set up in Mame for each controller for its keys but if you do unplug you will have to use a utility to establish their order.

I don't even want to hook the Xin-Mo to the PC just to the PS3.

I hope what your saying it shouldnt be a problem hooking both interfaces to one set of buttons and joysticks.

Thank you for your help.

To hook them into the same set of buttons you would have to separate the grounds and only allow one ground to be active at the same time otherwise there would be interaction between the controllers.   Simple circuit one SPDT switch that connects the ground of the controller that you want active to the actual ground.
