Quick Painting Question
« on: September 08, 2003, 08:55:01 pm »
Today I decided to touch up the back of my cabinet with a little primer and spray paint. I'm not to pleased with the results. Is it possible to use a roller and a latex finish on the cab?

It's particle board, and I need to sand it down again, and pretty much start from scratch. Any recommdendations on what I should do?

Thank you ,

Michael

Once the factory finish on particle board is gone you need to use a special primer. Basically you want to go to the paint shop and ask for a primer for hard to paint surfaces i.e. lose surfaces or formica. It's a bit more expensive than normal primer but well worth it if you want to do a good job. I used Dulux Primerlock.
Then you can pretty much paint with whatever paint you want to.

That sounds good Apollo. How is it applied to the surface I'm going to paint?

Will I still need to sand it down before I prime the surface?

Also, what is the best type of roller for using on particle board?

Thank you for your help ! :-)

Michael

I would think you'd want to use a foam roller for particle board just like you'd want to use with MDF. I haven't gone and painted my cab yet, but I've read lots of posts saying this is the way to go.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.
