MAME speedup for Jr Pacman resets to default after pwr off
« on: August 09, 2011, 04:36:37 pm »
I don't normally use any "cheats", but Jr Pacman needs the speedup on for me to even play it. Normal, its brutally hard. Problem is, it works fine when you set it to "on" via the tab menu, but I notice pwr'ing up the game the next day, its set back to default. I never had this problem with older versions. Is there something that needs to be done to get it to save the setting or is this a bug in .141?

Bump.

Actually you just exit the game and the speedup cheat goes back to the default off setting. I tried enabling save state just for this game and it still doesn't help. Anyone???

Nevermind. I just did a "rom swap" for the 8D file. Works fine...won't have to worry about in now.

Any suggestions on what to search for in google for the 8d version?  Can you elaborate more on how you did the swap?  Is it the same filename?

Thanks in advance!

Just learn to play the game. It seems hard, and then you find how you can fool the ghosts. Then it gets fun.

It's in MisfitMame, the romset is named jrfast. That might help you search. ;)

Not sure about swapping files, but if the same filename is in the mame set, it might work - though mame will complain about it. ;)

Wow. Jrfast.zip is hard to find.

Before I continue on my search... Has anyone tried renaming stuff and doing the swap?

What are the contents of the file? I'd like to see if they match up with the normal version.

How does MAME do Jr. Pac?  Didn't that one have a weird setup that was half video game and half pinball??

Slippy - You're thinking about the Baby Pacman Visual Pinball table using VPinMAME here.

Hi guys,

I managed to obtain a copy of the needed file, but I'm having trouble running it.  I wrote more about what I'm experiencing with it here (with screenshots):
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,93556.msg1303558.html#msg1303558

Any ideas on how to solve it?
