U-Trak Question

Trying to get my U-Trak up and running today. Before I even tackle the mouse buttons (which will surely be my next question) I just plugged it into the USB interface and into the computer. At this point the trackball does not move the cursor. Am I missing something?

When I plugged my U-track into USB it did just work, using Win 7.  Maybe check that all of the connections are tight?  I think it could also be that your two connections are switched.  I too would like to know how the mouse buttons get wired up.

Don't know about it not responding. But here is the info from the U-Trak page for mouse button connections:

Connections (USB)
The USB interface supports left and right mouse buttons. Suitable wires with contacts are contained in the "Mini-PAC Extension harness Pack" which can be ordered in the Mini-PAC section of our store.
The black wire shown arrowed in the above picture is not used by the trackball. This is the left button connection.
The unused contact next to this is the right button connection..
The COM terminals of the mouse button switches should be connected to a convenient ground point (Eg an I-PAC ground, or PC casing).

Not sure which one is the "unused contact" next to the left button connection though. I don't have any better pictures to tell what wires are used and what aren't.

Assuming that the wire colors are supposed to match up, I have it hooked up correctly. Still trying to figure this out.

Did you email me already? If the interface was purchased at a different time to the trackball, you might need to move the black wire to the other white connector, by pulling out the wire, with the pin attached, from one white connector body, and insert into the unused location on the other one. I can supply more info by email.

I did reply yesterday. I asked whether the trackball shows up as a HID mouse device in Device Manager.

Yes, I believe it does.

OK the wire swap I mentioned above should cure the problem.
