What I am looking for in cabinets is the 4-slot MVS cab (pretty much exactally what is shown in the graphic on the front page of hardmvs.com...

I'd be happy with pretty much any of them at this point (except the candy cabinets, which I don't care much for).

Sainrub I don't know where to find those types of cabinets.  They are hard to come by.  If anyone around here has them though I'd be more than happy to provide plans for them.

  I just picked up a Dragons Lair cab at an auction, do I need to measure it for everyone? Or do you already have the dimensions Jakobud?

Sweet.  I have found plans on the internet for a DL cab, but they were not complete or totally accurate.  So I have most of the plans drawn up already but I will get in contact with you soon about the extra dimensions I need from it.  Thanks! Is it in good shape?  How much did you get it for?

  The cab that I got was originally a Dragons Lair cab... see klov
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=D&game_id=7647

  Its in pretty good shape, it had been converted to a Ghosts'n'Goblins... it didn't work at the auction, but after I got it home, checked a few things out, and it fired right up and works great ... some loose connections.... anyway not bad for $10  ;D

I'm a little confused on what you are asking for.  Are you asking me if I still have plans for a TMNT 4 player cabinet?  Because I do I just haven't finished drawing them up yet.  Sorry I've been super swamped the last few weeks with real-world (tm) stuff.

Sorry I wasn't clear I am asking for the plans for a TMNT 4 player cabinet. I understand about being busy . Please keep me in mind . I am in no rush but I really do want to make this cabinet for my son.

UPDATE TIME:

Okay I've uploaded some new plans tonight.  Here is the list:

Bucky O'Hare
G.I. Joe
The Simpsons
Sunset Riders
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
TMNT: Turtles in Time

fortunately all these games are Konami games from the late 80's and early 90's and they were all known for having this one type of four player cabinet that they all used.  So it was easy to make one set of plans for all of them.  There were probably a few other games around that time that used the same cabinet (perhaps TMNT Manhattan Project, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, etc) but these six are the only ones that I can confirm that they used this cabinet type.  Enjoy!

Goto www.jakobud.com for the plans!

Any chance of getting Gauntlet plans?

lance

If you can find someone willing to set me up with the dimensions i will draw them up right away.

I am going to pick up a Gyruss cabinet on Saturday. I'll be sure to measure it up sometime shortly after that in order to fulfill the request. It is a unique cabinet, that's for sure.

My MAME cabinet is a modified Wrestlefest dedicated
( http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=W&game_id=10388 ) and I am certain it is no different from the TMNT / Simpsons style cab. I can measure it out to be sure if asked.

Does anybody know what this cab might have originally been?

The profile is a little different than other cabs I've seen. The marquee is set back quite a bit.

The dates on the coin mechs and monitor are both 1992.

The inside dimensions of the cab are exactly 24 inches.

The control panel is just under 37" wide.

I can get measurements if anyone will be interested.

Looks extremely similar to TMNT except for the marquee area.  Is this a cabinet you own?

Yep.  I won it at an auction in Pennsauken, NJ last Saturday for $220 plus auction fees and tax, of course.

Which reminds me. Jakobud, I can't remember if you said or not but would you be willing to draw-up plans for cabs that are modified/converted/slightly altered? I have a few that may "fit the bill" if you say yes.

That looks like my cab.  Or damn close to it.  However, I've found another pic of that same game in a completely different cabinet...

http://www.system16.com/sega/cabinets/goldenaxe2.jpg

As for the marquee area, it has the full size glass, the bottom 3 or so inches are just covered up by the "speaker grille" that goes from the top of the monitor glass, up the incline, and wraps over the edge of the marquee.

Then again... I found another Sega game, this time from 1991 using that same cab...

Well that wasn't really what I was aiming to do when I started this thing.  The only exception I have made is I drew up LuSid's cabinet plans b/c his were so commonly used for so long.  Although nowadays I'm getting a handful of people sending me plans for custom made or altered cabinets and asking me if I want to draw them up.  The thing is, my plans for these cabinets are not full plans that tell you step by step what you have to do to put together a cabinet like an original.  If they were full complete plans I don't think I could fit them on a single piece of paper :)   The plans are here so that people can have a good idea of what the shape and size was of originals so they could use those dimensions to their hearts on content.  However if enough people are wanting me to start adding custom cabinets I will do so :)

The minicade plans.  There is 1/2" bracing inside between the bottom panel and the sides around the entire perimeter.  The rest of the panels were just secured with screws through the side, countersunk, and filled with wood filler.  My monitor support consists of 2 - 1"x2" stands with a 1/2" piece of ply over top as well as 2 -- 1"x2" running behind the tube at top and bottom (this will be different for each monitor depending on how they are put together)  The PC went under the monitor shelf so a slot 1 CPU will not work.  The back panel was hinged alowwing access to the insides and a hole drilled for the power supply.  The top section that is angled is where a vent hole was placed as well as the power switch.

Hopefully on a 5 page thread this gets a peek!

I'm looking for cabinet dimensions for the 6 player X-Men cabinet.  I've seen the 4 player version, and that wasn't the one I was looking for, GOTTA be the 6 player one.

Case width, height, depth at the base (deepest point)

CP width and length.

Thanks

You are wanting the position of the joysticks or the actual dimensions of the shape of the control panel?

I just want the spacing between the joystick centers to help in the design of my control panel...

O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O

P1 = P2 = ?
X = ?

I assume that Total Carnage is probably the same spacing as Smash TV.

I think that I read somewhere that the sticks on Robotron (though 1 player only) are a little farther apart.

You are wanting the position of the joysticks or the actual dimensions of the shape of the control panel?

I just want the spacing between the joystick centers to help in the design of my control panel...

O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O

P1 = P2 = ?
X = ?

I assume that Total Carnage is probably the same spacing as Smash TV.

I think that I read somewhere that the sticks on Robotron (though 1 player only) are a little farther apart.

I'll have this for you tonight...

I know the width of the control panel is 28.75" wide and based upon this image here:

this is a very close approximation of the distances:

O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O

P1 = P2 = 6.5"
X = 5.0"

These are not exact but they are close.

My plans on my website for TMNT, TMNT2, Simpsons etc, are all going to be very very similar to that cabinet (except the large marquee area).

I'd love to get dimentions on these....the button/joystick layout, marquee placement, general stats are very nice...

Thanks.  I took your picture into Paint Shop Pro, then perspective corrected and rotated it so I had an image that was roughtly perpindicular to the control panel.  Then I resized the width of the image to 28.75 inches and copied sections of the image between the joysticks to get an approximate distance.

This is what I come up with  (center to center measurements)...

P1 = P2 = 7"
X = 5.5"

Hantarex Polo 15KHz
Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 2GB (GCN)
GroovyMAME 0.197.017h_d3d9ex
CRT Emudriver & CRT Tools 2.0 beta 13 (Crimson 16.2.1 for GCN cards)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.8GHz
ASUS Z87M-PLUS Motherboard

I'm having some trouble getting the plans into CorelDRAW or Illustrator. Apparently both programs only support the other formats of Autocad and not the DWF format. The only converters I could find need Autocad to work. Since the PDF and JPG both are bitmaps they don't convert to either vector program very well either.

I found that I could copy the drawing from the Autodesk Viewer, but that only copies the current view. Trouble is that when the current view is the entire image then the accuracy of the drawing is reduced. And if you zoom in you get the accuray, but then the image is of course cut off.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Those are usually referred to as BarTop or TableTop Arcade Cabinets.  Those seem to be made from scratch (custom made) from the seller.  He/She most likely applied all graphics/overlays manually.  I do not believe those are original cabinets.

Take a look further up at Menace's Minicade Plans.  You can use his plans as a basis, and customize the control panel to your liking.

You can take a look at Menace's Minicade here.

Here is a free set of MiniCab Plans.

IMHO, a bartop cabinet is better off being used for a less cluttered CP setup (ie. 1- 4 way joystick, 2-3 buttons - strictly for playing classic games) than an overcrowded 2-Player Streetfighter (fighter) setup, where both players will be cramped together on the narrow CP with very little elbow room.  But if you don't mind that, well go for it!  ;)

If your creative enough, you can create swappable panels for it like THIS.
