Hyperbowl on your cab
« on: September 05, 2003, 06:40:59 pm »
Anyone running hyperbowl in their cabs?

seems like a perfect fit.  I've played it at Jillian's and Metreon in SF....really fun.  Although I have never seen or heard of the PC version.

Just thinking about all the newer TBall games out there other than golden tee.

I just foung their site www.hyperbowl.com and they have a PC demo. I'm downloading now.  we'll see how it goes

Yeah this is oooold news man.

But I was disappointed with the game.  It's like a cross between bowling and marble madness, taking the worst elements of each.  You wear your arm out constantly rolling and aiming as the ball goes down the lane (like mm) and the playfields are all flat with the simple, repetative, goal of making a strike (like bowling).   The different "stages" are merely an excuse to put some themed crap on a crooked lane.  The lanes end up feeling like badly designed putt-putt courses.

For a good bowling sim I would reccomend world class bowling, which is in mame and has 3d graphics superior to hyperbowl.  For a good trackball game I would reccommend marble maddness, which is far more interesting than this game.

This just goes to show ya... sometimes peanut butter doesn't go with jelly.  :)

oh well.  I didn't think I was breaking any news just wanted some reviews. you're right, it was a really bland game

I guess the best part of that game is the bowling ball sized trackball they have in the arcades.  now THAT would be fun for marble madness.

Just wondering. I have only ever seen one Hyperbowl machine, and it didn't have a monitor, it used a VGA projector, and used the wall as the display. Are they all like that, or was I looking at an oddball one?

On hyperbowls site you will see ther eis a pc version, a cabinet version witha normal sized tball, and a front or rear projection version.

I love this games.  It's great, especially when played at Jillians or Gameworks after a couple of drinks :)
