Hey Guys, after 9 years of wanting to get an arcade cabinet, I finally pulled the trigger when I found a TMNT 4 player arcade for sale on craigslist and picked it up for a reasonable amount considering the condition its in. From what I can tell it was a Konami 'Main Event' cabinet that's been converted to a TMNT 4 player game. The machine has a 19" screen, and still has the main event control panel and buttons.

I've replaced the marquee bulb, there is no TMNT sideart and the control panel just has some dark brown plain laminate. Coin doors work, minus locks and it has one coin bucket missing. The woods in pretty decent shape also considering the age.

Now, the issue I am experiencing is more often than not the sound begins to crackle and go out completely then crackle and come back, I've inspected the connections to the speaker, and I don't believe its the wiring to the speaker, I also plugged it up this morning for a quick play, and managed to complete 3 levels of the game with perfect sound before the sound issue/crackling reappeared.

Once the sound crackling begins or if it starts to fade in or out, its very annoying and I have to turn it off.

The other problem, is I have one joystick that when you push down on the joystick for 'Donatello' he will not move down, just UP, Left and Right.

Eventually I want to 'MAME' it, but for now I'd like to keep it as is, a working dedicated TMNT cab.

This is my first time messing around with a cabinet, so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Gav

Nice find, as far as the sound goes not sure what is going on there. For the control not working, I would say that that the switch for the down is probably bad. Up left down and right all have separate switches for each and seems likely that the down switch is just bad. Not sure how easy it is to get under the control panel but that should be a simple fix.

Nice find indeed.  That's one of my favorite games from my childhood.  Too bad it's not the original cab.  If it was I would have some questions to ask.  But if you ever decide to get rid of the TMNT guts look me up.
