I have spent the past few days trying to configure all of my emulators and place them into MALA for a nice streamlined home arcade experience. I am very new to this process and have no real computer background. I have had many problems and many successes, but I still have many questions.
I am running MALA 1.74 on a 32 bit Windows XP machine.
1.) Perhaps the most pertinent question is with regard to making effective use of layouts. I located some sleek looking layouts for my tree here:
http://www.webwonderland.net/arcade/zebra_layouts.phpI downloaded the “everything” file and placed them into my layouts directory which I assigned as such in the MALA tree editor. I chose these layouts for their respective places in the tree I had created (e.g. “Atari_menu” was assigned to my Atari submenu).
What I got were several menus that looked like the dark image below.
I then found out that I needed to change the directory structure listed in each layout file. I did this using UltraEdit to change the file path listed in the .dll files from “D:\front_end\mala\layouts” to my file path: “F:\Emulation\FrontEnd\Layouts.
This did not help and my menus stayed the same. I seem to be missing some integral part of this process. Any ideas?

2.) On a side note, I have noticed that when using a layout other than the standard, the time between menus goes from instantaneous to a slow 3-second fade in and out – Is there some way to alter this time delay? Is my system just slow?
Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks much!
