Analog switch?

Does anybody know if there is some kind of mod, or way to configure mame to have a "switch toggle" for analog games? The older Nintendo 64/Ps1 emulators had a feature where you could use the analog stick digitally, but pressing a button while controlling it would change the digital emulated speed. So, if you push in one direction at half speed analog, pressing the button would make it go full speed.

I don't think MAME supports anything like that. At least not that I've seen.....
