Terminal Insulation Sleeves
« on: June 23, 2011, 09:41:55 pm »
Does anyone know a source for soft terminal insulation sleeves? I'm looking for some to fit .187 and .250 quick connect terminals. I've done a TON of searching and have only come up with manufactures that don't ship to the US, those "contact us for a quote" pages from China, DigiKey that will only take orders in quantities of 20,000 ($350+), and the link I posted that has a 15+ week factory lead time on the sizes I'm looking for. I've got a lot of uninsulated female quick connect crimp terminals on the way and would love to use these with them. Looking for some in either clear or black. Thanks in advance.

I have never seen them sold separately before.  I know you can buy fully insulated quick disconnects.  Another thing you can look into is heat-shrink tubing.

I had never seen these until I got my Lono board. The harnesses that came with it used crimp quick connect terminals and these sleeves that slide over the terminal once the connection is made. I really like the look as opposed to the red or pink quick connects and would like to do the same thing on some harnesses I'm about to make. Not too interested in the heat shrink though.

I would also check in an automotive store for insulated terminals. Some hardware stores hold them as well. Never have seen the sleeves by themselves, though.

Amazon also sells a bunch of varieties as well.

I know there are plenty of insulated terminals. But I will be going with this style:

I'll be using black wire for my controls, and I'm trying to stay away from the "crush" style and colored connectors. These sleeves go onto the wire before the terminal is crimped onto the wire, and can be slid over and off the terminal if needed.

Here's a better pic of what I'm trying to locate:

Does this work?

http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=090SPEC&MPN=1-170823-3

Edit: Sorry, I checked further and it looks like they are out of stock....  :-\ I don't know if they would restock or what? It might be worth calling them up though. They also have a "request lead time" form you could probably fill out to get a shipping time estimate.

Looks like I'll either be waiting 15 weeks, or cannibalizing the harnesses I got with the Lono... I'll spend one more night of searching first. It would be much easier if I wasn't so picky.

We have them sitting here, they just are not in the store.  We have the clear ones only.. They'll be the same price as the current quick connects if you want some just email Susan sales@paradisearcadeshop.com and let her know how many... We'll take care of you, lol, sorry it's been a crazy few weeks and I"m WAY behind on getting new items posted to the store.  We are sitting on about 20 new products I need to get up!
