Build - Big Buck Hunter
« on: June 18, 2011, 08:30:08 pm »
Guys,

Have an empty cabinet here at home... am looking at building a BIG BUCK HUNTER cabinet.

Have found some interesting systems on ebay and the shotguns also... just need some help.  Has anyone built one of these before: what are the components i will need - do these guns work with CRT systems (or is there an actual sensor required for them).  THere is even a USB shotgun???

Please any help would be great.  :dunno

Regards,

Andrew

The USB version is *not* plug and play compatible with any system other than that it was designed for, currently BBH Safari.

What version of BBH are you wanting to run? The board setup varies on the version, the newer ones running on modified PCs with JAMMA interfaces, and the older ones being dedicated JAMMA boards with hard drives. For most versions of BBH, the standard "pump" shotgun will work. It just plugs into the game pcb, no special monitor setup required. It must be a CRT monitor, however.

Newer ones have new style guns, and Safari may have sensors arund the monitor.

IMHO, you're probably better off buying a used game than trying to build your own. Just the cost of a gun and the game pcb is more than a whole used machine. BBH2006 is under $750.

Q-Bert,

Cheers for the info.  Problem is i am in Australia (and the only Big Bucks going over here are like $4,000 ).

I am looking at just purchasing a Big Buck Pro setup... so whats the go with this?  Is it just a motherboard with power supply and hard-drive?  Do i need a RGB to VGA card running off it to go to a CRT tv or is it already setup like that.
