I live in the kansas area and there's two places anywhere close that have tons of arcade junk lying around (distributors that mainly convert or restore), gameroom warehouse and united distributors.

I've never tried to get a monitor or spare parts from these guys, only a beat up cab. Gameroom warehouse didn't seem too keen on just selling me an empty cab, and told me to go over to united. United said they didn't want to get rid of any cabs because they want to restore/convert them all. United had TONS, I mean TONS of machines. We're talking wall to wall in a big warehouse, cocktails stacked 5 high on top of each other. And they had an entire wall filled with probably well over 100 arcade monitors.

I know they won't sell cabs but I wonder if they might be willing to part with a monitor. What are the odds do you guys think that I could get a working monitor from these guys, say a working 19" for 150 or less, and what would you say the odds of the thing not breaking within a year are?

Also if anyone knows of a good place in the kansas area for this sort of thing let me know.

If they have that many cabs to restore/convert I'd say odds are pretty low they'll sell you a monitor, at least one that's decent anyway...  Doesn't hurt to try, just watch for burn-in and keep in mind what you can get a decent one for elsewhere...

Funny thing is they have so many and are only getting more that I know they will never make a dent in what they've already got. I mean there's only 2 guys working reallllll slow like on them.

Dude. Don't pay $150 for a used 19". Forget that. You can get a new one for about that price.

Make a wanted to buy post on RGVAC stating your want for a standard 19" monitor, someone will come through for you.
