Anyone ever dealt with Happ?
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:49:45 pm »
I placed an order with them tonight for a new CRT monitor.  What I thought was ODD is they never mentioned anything about the price for shipping.  I just left it on the default for FEDEX Ground.  Anyone got any clarification here? I just wanna make sure IM not gonna get a Mega bill.

Unfortunately I suspect you will get a huge shipping bill, they are notorious for it.

I expect you'll get a shipping bill around $100-$150.

Good luck. By the time you get through, your order will already be out the door.

Yeah, Happ charged me $20 shipping for a $32 coin door. Learned my lesson then and there.

I ordered some Happ joysticks from them before, the shipping is outrageous! I suggest buying from somewhere else.

If you worry about shipping cost, I urge you to cancel IMMEDIATELY. You will be shafted. Most assuredly.

Didn't it used to be that they would give you a lower shipp. price if you called in the order. Do they still do that?

When I ordered my 29" Makvision SVGA monitor from Happ a few months ago, the shipping was around $120. They said Fedex on the page, but it was shipped via some other carrier on a wooden palette.

I should have ordered it from X-Arcade, it would have been a lot cheaper.

Depending on where you are located, there may be a distribution center for Betson that you can visit and purchase a monitor.
Thats how I did it and not only did I save the shipping but they also gave it to me at a wholesale price at a little over $50 cheaper than the advertised price.

Atlanta Metro Area here

Email or call David Countryman.  He usually has a bunch of monitors (new and used) in his warehouse in Marietta:

What about when they show zero stock, but let you put it in your cart?

I need a $10 part that I haven't been able to find in the US.
Happ has it on their website and I put it in my cart, but didn't finish the checkout process because there is a $25 min order.
It showed no stock and I doubt the part is made anymore, but the site was letting me proceed through checkout.

Would they get it from "somewhere" or would I just be waiting forever?

They'll usually find one for you.

You can get around the minimum order and outrageous shipping charges on general merchandise by going through another distributor for Happ.  Divemaster127 (I think his website is arcadeemulator.net) on here has given me great service in the past.  He can get basically anything from Happ with maybe an extra week lead time, and his shipping charges are quite reasonable.  I don't know if he'll deal with monitors, though.  You could ask.

Thanks.  I was wondering about divemaster.  I've bought Ultimarc stuff through him before just to spread the BYOAC vendor love.
Support them now or they might not be there for you in the future!

You guys were right.  When I came into work Tuesday,  I called them to cancel it,  I then asked how much shipping would be. I was Told $80.  I figured ok I will go with that, Can't really beat it.  Well Today I found out that If the shipper gets here with my order and its a Residential address, It will be $200 and if its business it would be $100.  I told her its my work address.  She told me the address is coming up as Residential,  Anyway I told her "I see I am going to be having problems with this order, so go ahead and cancel it"  I am also about to call my bank and apprise them of the situation so than can reverse the charge if its done already.

Honestly, $100 to ship a monitor to a business using a carrier like UPS or FedEx is quite reasonable, though maybe a little high.  Motor freight lines will be comparable if you don't have a dock.  $200 to a residence is a bit high, though.

Second divemaster.  Good Happ prices and fast turnaround.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Happ is geared towards selling to larges buyers etc & the freight can be rough.  You can check out my website at arcadeemulator.net, if I do not have it I can order in 99% of happ items.  About the only items I do not carry monitors, bezels local pickup only.  Monitors are only 10% markup & its freight to me & back out again.  Just to much risk.  I do bring in monitors for local pickup oklahoma
dm
I carry both ultimarc & happ items, all brand new & I ship from the united states. My online store is ARCADEEMULATOR.NET, pm if I can help in anyway.
