So, I recently got this board and the directions say I need to wrap all of the wires as close as I can to the pcb in a split bead to meet FCC regulations.  It then also says in a warning to "do not simply tie the wires together.  if you do, you could cause intermitten problems, loose connections, oxidation, or a fire"  Now, that warning is in between adding the split beads and connection the power wires (meaning, it could be a warning for the power wires).

What is this about?  What does this really mean to me?  Thanks!

You can find the manual at:
http://www.arcade-history.com/manuals/1028/Guardians%20of%20the%20Hood%20-%20Kit%20Installation%20Instructions%20-%20Atari%20Games.pdf

(or google "guardians of the hood manual filetype:pdf" and it should be the first link)

Those split beads are to prevent radio frequency interferance (rfi). figure 1-5 on page shows the placement of the split beads.

The warning to not just tie the wires together has nothing to do with the split beads. That warning is talking about if you are interfacing the harness with existing cabling (wire end to wire end). Its just saying to use some kind of crimp connector and solder. Just tieing the wires together could cause intermittent problems and fire if it arcs against something (more for power cables)

Heres a little more on split beads

Incase anyone was following this, the package I had that had this board and a crime fighters board was super poorly packed and both were damaged.  The video is mucked up.  This board is a two layer PCB and the second layer is smaller and it looks like the two plastic clips' bottoms broke in shipping leaving the lone metal peg (the other metal one is missing) to hold the fort.  It didn't do so well.  Oh well.  Still trying to work it out with the seller.  The packing was an anti-static bag for guardians and then a box it just fit in (no bubble wrap or anything).  Then a chunk of foam, 3 (yes 3) whole walmart ad pages curmbled up.  Then the crime fighers board with 1 layer of bubble wrap.  The box was cut down to be shorter (4 corners clipped a little) and the flaps we super tapped up to hold her together.  Shipping paper wrapped the whole thing.  Sell wanted me to file an insurance claim.   :censored: USPS would laugh at that kind of packing!  Oh well.

Sorry to hear that.
Its never cool when you buy something online and its poorly packaged or just plain screwed up.

I would definately advise you to keep on the look out for parts and boards through this forum and klov. I find it to be less risky than ebay.

klov wouldn't give me an account.  Something about having to have a sponor or donate to them first.

I have been watching here, but the sale listings only seem to trickle in.

Thats weird about the klov registry.
Have you tried just going to home page, clicking on forums and then clicking on register there.

I think Klov is definately a better forum for buying game boards because this forum deals a bit more with the emulation end.
