New jukebox ideas and trials
« on: May 28, 2011, 11:38:25 pm »
Hey guys i have been a fan of your forum for a while but never posted anything so here goes. :applaud:
I have built 3 digital jukeboxes over the past few years, First one was sold to my sister 2nd was modified into the 3rd which is now still mine but lives in the clubhouse of our local golf course.
I am currently playing around with ideas for the 4th one and have come across some interesting things in my playing around which i thought i might share.
I am really a big fan Of SK jukebox and the video support part, i want to run 1 main 19" widescreen in the centre and 2 17" square screens ether side for videos to play on but did not like the fact that the 2 screens would be blank during mp3/wma play so started playing with ways to get them to show visualisations, after much frustration :banghead: it hit me to try renaming the extension from .wma/mp3 to .wmv and bang there it was media player visualisations on the smaller screens :applaud:
The next idea was to incorporate the discolitez winamp plugin to run disco style lights to the music, I had made a separate rig for my 3rd jukebox that required a 2nd pc for the litez program, it used line in from the amp line out to get the audio signal, it worked well but i wanted something simpler. Again after much head banging a wall :banghead: i stumbled on loading winamp, the litez plugin and SK onto one pc, then run the audio out to line in at the amp then amp line out to the pc line in, i told winamp to listen to the line input and there it was, i can start the pc and auto start SKJB, winamp and litez :applaud:
Sorry if this was a bit long winded but was excited about sharing my break through's. Let me know if i have missed better ways to do what i want or if you want any more info.
Cheers Jason

Great idea about renaming the mp3's to wmv's to get visualisations!  Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Got any pics of the ones you built already ?

(the 2 screens either side folding in on top of main screen would be a nice feature when its off - just a thought)

Thanks for the info on visualizations.   Been playing around with them off and on for quite a while and never got anything to work right. :applaud: :applaud:

Hey guys,  Lost most of my pics of the jukeboxes in a bad pc crash, I have to go out and rearange some songs on the one at the golfcourse so will get a pic while there. I like the idea of folding screens as would be great for when moving it around.  I was also thinking of how to incorparate a lcd projector to shine on the wall above the jukebox for vids (i have a spare one kicking around). I have a lot of plans for Mk4 and will try to do some sketches and post them for some feedback. If through my trials i can help others with problems/ideas thats great as what goes around comes around :).  Cheers
