Tribute-Pixelhugger - FINAL PSD's download
« on: May 25, 2011, 10:16:47 pm »
Here is the link to download the two files [photoshop .psd]
Note: you will need WINRAR to uncompress these. [size of compressed files =160MB]
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4VE1TO4Q

PLEASE NOTE: over 80 downloads on the other files have been reached - only one download may happen at any one time so please keep trying.

HAVE FUN WITH IT --- the download may not represent the attachments shown as i have been updating them.
Add your own sprinkling of planetary condiments  ;D
Add your own Latin quotes
Add your own boarders and text...

The size of the canvas is
Marquee: 62cm x 20cm
Control Panel: 62cm x 30cm

HISTORY::
I've alway been fascinated with Pixelhuggers  remarkable ability to create something original and beautiful.
Although I can't recreate Pixel's work pixel by pixel - I like the design.
I've just got some galaxian green and purple t-moulding - so not sure if i'm going purple or green

EDIT: you may want to use the SPACE WOOZIE font for MC and I used Galactican font for 'the simulacrum'

UPDATE: I gave up on the cogs design - got a little side tracked.
Cogs can be a real pain - so just for now these mechanically won't work  :dunno but with a little time they will

BTW: I've never liked spinners or trackballs - guess I've never really played any games on that hardware.

Comments and critiques welcome - these are all made from scratch from photoshop.

My art is always free for you to download and modify as you see fit...
Why?... because I could never find any art I loved on the net. So I played around with Photoshop and wish to share it with the arcade community.

Both system controls cogs say player 1 ready not player 1 and 2.

Haha - the oldest trick in the book [copy] [paste] with out modifying the content.

So here is the direction i'm heading
- a colorful iris type alien interface
- changing the environment (backdrop) graphics to more of a computer PCB wiring loom idea.
- I think i may print this on translucent film and adhere to plexi - that way the color from the iris and cogs will shine with LEDs.

Looks nice.  i actually design gears as part of my job and you're right: those wouldn't work very well - but they look pretty good!

I assume this is for a Control Panel?  If so, do you have a control layout in mind?  You might want to overlay the hole cutouts on the art to see how things line up.

Looks pretty cool.
It seems like the name on the marquee could be a little bigger. I'm not sure if that would ruin the electric effect of it.

I wish I had the time and expertise to build the 'Mission Control' - BUT damn it I want one now.
I've changed direction and ripping it off completely - sorry Pixel but your work is too damn good to not.

OK so here is the draft of the MC control panel - with a little tidying i should be able to replicate it closely.
I will upload the photoshop .PSD's once finished.

I see you have mastered my Thousand Hand Offset Path Intersection Overlaid Fighting Style of Fu. Most impressive.

I know recreation is half (or more) of the fun in these projects, but if you'd like the originals, they are yours to use and modify as you please. I can post them here as PDF's or the original AI's (along with the Space Woozies font.)

AWwwl * squeals of delight* I would love the AI file. Yet to try Illustrator and am only a self taught Photoshop user.

Yes certainly the recreation of the final product gives a sense of pride and accomplishment - but having some insight from the master would certainly be welcomed.
Many thanks
