Sound for my Mame project
« on: August 31, 2003, 04:53:36 am »
I have pretty much gotten everything squared away for my project.

What about the sound card and speaker/woofer setup?  I haven't found much on that subject

I want to feel the thump from Asteroids.  I also don't want to spend money unwisely.  This will be an emulator only cabinet.

I dont want to get Bose speakers and have someone inform me that the original arcade music would have sounded perfect on the cheapest thing out there due to some sort of technical limit.

Being new to this you guys have my respect, this is one cool sub-culture.  Thanks in advance for the guidance.

Peace,
Mike

There are many previous threads.    To sum them up go for a computer speaker setup.   Very inexpensive,  no separate amp needed, sheilding of speakers, easy to connect.

Most games are mono so a 2.1 speaker system gives good sound at a bargain price.  (2 spk and a  woofer).
