Oscar, can you help with this?

OK I'm prety much an idiot...

I've got a Happs trackball and my old hagstom encoder crapped the bed. I found that I had one of your hacked Logitech USB mice laying around, but without the wires to plug into the board.

Is there a good how-to on your site that I missed on how to connect it to a happs trackball? I saw the pic of your wiring harness, but I can't see enough detail to put one together.

If not could you walk me through what wires connect where from the mouse to which pins on the happs circuit boards? ( The only harness I've got on my TB is the hagstron one, i'll just need to splice in)

The particular mouse is one I had bought about a year ago. Its the one with the little jumper that fits over 2 pins on the mouse board. (It is marked with a red dot to make sure the orientation was correct.)

End pointers woulde be mint. Thanks!

Hey Smack!

Unfortunately, that Logitech isn't going to help you much with your trackball.  Logitech mice don't interface with arcade optics very nicely at all!  In fact, the only optics that I have been able to make work with Logitech mice are the ones that come with them.  That's why I stopped using them when I had my own optic boards made.

Find a cheap USB or PS/2 mouse (Kensington, Belkin, etc...) and follow the instructions on these pages:

http://www.members.shaw.ca/bakaye/tballhack.htm
http://mamewah.mameworld.net/mousehack.html

If you don't want to mess around with hacking a mouse, I offer a USB mouse and trackball harness that will plug right into your trackball with a 6-pin Molex connector, no other connections required.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

Fantabulous!

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna try that hack.

Looks simple enough for me. I'm gonna sleep this hangover off and give it a whirl tomorrow! ;D
