U360 deviceID conflict
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:51:21 pm »
I have a system that already has a U360 on it. I recently acquired more U360s, and hooking one up automatically registers as 'stick 2'. When the other stick is connected and Ultramap scans it, instead of registering as 'stick 3', the system freezes, sound 'CD skips', video goes batshit crazy, and I have to press the reset button on the PC.

Testing the two new sticks separate and together on another system and on the original system with 'its' U360 disconnected shows that the new sticks always show up as '2' and '1', respectively. Just now I realized I forgot to check the device IDs in Ultramap, though I think it's pretty obvious what they are.

Hence, my old stick and one of the new ones both have device ID of '1', and to use them together, I have to disconnect my old one, then connect the new one and change the ID in Ultramap.

Are the device IDs factory set?

Ah yes:

Assigning an ID:
When the joysticks are supplied, all are set to an ID of ONE. You must change as required so IDs in use are unique.

I'm a little surprised at the combination of 'stick 1s', though. I would think Ultramap would say one of them can't be used, and would 'side-line' it till it was changed. You can't just 'add' sticks; you have to do each one completely separately.
