Button fonctions archive... does it exist?
« on: May 11, 2011, 04:25:35 pm »
Is there some kind of archive for all mame games of what the button 1 do, 2, 3... are doing, so I don't have to test the game every time.

Example : For Mortal Kombat - Button 1 : High Punch
                                         Button 2 : Block
                                         ...

Yes, it's controls.dat

its an ongoing project from SirPoonga and Howard Casto. There is a special forum for it hosted here.

The .dat file works with Mame, so you can view it per game using a frontend...but you can also view the games individually as well:
http://controls.arcadecontrols.com/controls/controls.php
Click on "reports", then "games currently supported"

A lot of people have this set up with their frontend on their machines to tell them the controls before loading each game.

Interesting... I use Maximus arcade. Would that be a batch file? Any idea on how to implement this?
