Hello,

Just look for some help in configuring the above.  I bought an I-pac for all of my joys and buttons.

I have read conflicting information on configuring the trackball and spinner. Some people have told me I now need an Opti-pac to make both of these item work in Mame. Other people have mentioned going into the Mame configuration and setting it there.  I am running an XP machine and not sure what front end to use.

The trackball does work as a mouse plugged into the USB but does not do anything in any type of Mame game.  Any help and clarity is greatly appreciated.  I am almost done building my machine and look forward to sharing some pics.

Thanks in advance.
Jason

Make sure mouse control is enabled in mame.ini
Make sure the game you are playing is set to mouse axes for the x and y inputs in the tab menu.

It's almost certainly the mouse isn't in the cfg. You can also enable it in the command line by putting -mouse

So it sounds like I do not need the Opti-pac. I assume if I bought this, this would take care of my spinner and trackball issue or do I still need to configure the above.

Thanks again

I believe the Optipac is only if you want multiple analog devices controlled separately. Typically a spinner and a trackball both share the X axis as a standard mouse.

What version of the SpinTrak do you have?  If USB, just plug everything in and it should be fine - the SpinTrak and the Trackball will just share one axis.  If you want them all separate, you're going to have to get a card/interface that does a 'Z' then wire the spin trak to that.  I have an OptiWiz which does 3 axis and 3 buttons.
