Help Display My Games Correctly???
« on: May 03, 2011, 02:00:03 pm »
So I completed my first MAME build last August - September... It's been working great and it wasn't until I started playing with getting an aimtrak and lightgun games that I started looking a little more closely to my monitor.

I have a ArcadeVGA 3000 going through a JPAC to my 25" arcade monitor which is set at 15Khz. After looking at the ultimarc site I see that I'm not using ddraw, nohwstrech, and switchres... I thought it looked ok but I am getting some weird flicker issues in Area 51 with each trigger pull... I thought that it may have something to do with the resolution that it was being displayed at so I made the changes and forced it to run at 360x240@60hz per the command line and it didn't look as good as it did before, not to mention the flicker was still there...

With the flicker issue aside my understanding was that running it this way with an arcade monitor was supposed to make it look better... I tried with a few different games and they all looked different as far as the orientation on the screen. When I would adjust the horizontal and vertical pots for one game it would screw up the display for the other...

So I guess I'm looking for some feedback for some mame.ini, video, and maybe command line settings I can use to get my games looking as good as they can with the hardware I'm using...

I should mention that I have a cap kit coming in the mail for my monitor to see if that helps any but any feedback as to what I can do would be much appreciated...
